Our Secret Garden
“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”
― Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
My name is Anne, and this is my odd corner. Growing up, I was the kid with pockets full of twigs and stones, shells and seaglass. I was fascinated by nature and the way the wind would move. Growing older now, I dream of becoming a fairy in my own garden. Dresses fluttering in the breeze, the smell of flowers in the air. I am working toward my own homestead, a farm that sustains crops, wildflowers, animals, and ultimately life. The first book I remember reading was "The Secret Garden,” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Looking back now, it all makes perfect sense. The boy in the story was healed by friendship, nature, and being himself. Living in the hustle & bustle of everyday monotony I lost pieces of myself, & the rocks and twigs fell out of my pockets to be long forgotten. Finding this corner, my secret garden, I hope you will join me to put myself back together, to heal, and to collect memories and adventures like leaves, petals, and stones.
